“Adobe InDesign is Missing Required System Fonts or CMap Files. Please Reinstall InDesign” Error in Windows

If you get a CMap error when loading InDesign then you have a damaged or missing CMaps folder and you will be unable to use InDesign until you resolve this.
The Cmaps folder is located at C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Fonts\Reqrd\CMaps. The easiest way to resolve this issue is to simply replace your Cmaps folder with an uncorrupted one.
Easy Solution:
1. Download a working CMaps folder by clicking on the link below
2. Unzip the file, if you need an unzipper try winzip, it’s pretty standard
3. Replace your existing CMaps folder with the CMaps folder you just unzipped.

4. Launch InDesign
That’s the easy way, if you want to do it the hard way, be my guest.

Where is the zipped file for the missing fonts?
June 24th, 2008 at 12:34 pm
Im an onsite tech guy, just had this problem with a users computer. The reason for it was that CS3 was installed a week ago, but CS3 did not automaticly uninstall CS2. The user tried starting InDesign via the CS2 link, and which that error message was displayed.
