Change Text Frame Shapes in InDesign
Circles not fancy enough for you? Luckily InDesign gives you lots of control when creating text frames so you don’t have to be confined to text boxes. One great way of manipulating the shape of text frames is to use the patherfinder tool. The pathfinder tool allows you to combine shapes in a variety of ways, for this example we’ll be looking at how to add shapes together.
1. Draw two shapes
2. Overlap the shapes in some way
3. Select both shapes by holding down shift and clicking the outline of each
4. Select object>pathfinder>add
5. Click inside your new shape with the Text Tool and type away.
You can use this technique to make a wide variety of shapes based off the combination of ellipses, rectangles and polygons.
