Delete Temporary Files in Windows XP

Too many temporary files can bog down your machine or keep you from installing so it’s best to clean them out from time to time. Windows stores temporary files in 2 locations; C:\Windows\Temp and C:\Documents and Settings\(User Name)\Local Settings\Temp. To clear them we just need to navigate to those directories Hit Control+A (to select all) and delete.

For the C:\Documents and Settings\(User Name)\Local Settings\Temp location you may just want to go to start>run>%temp% to get there instead.

Run %temp%

The Temp folder in the Windows directory is a shared temp folder, the other is specific to your user account.
