You make a good point Alan. It is a good solution, and a great one if you're in a hurry. I still think it may cause problems when updating at a later date but it works and most importantly it works fast. As you stated; If I do need it again for an update it's not that big of a deal as it's easy to download or store. It's also a lot safer than running the CS3Clean script. Thanks for the contribution.

Hello Zervas, I can confirm what I said and what you've got from my message..
I point out that I wasn't complaining or else (if I didn't googled to here, I would probably still be chewing hints around the world..), just adding my discovering about that
As I said, the problem is that (probably because of some internet updates performed at some point from CS3) it asks for something not available on the "bought/shipped" DVDs...
That's what it happened to me in a timeline (I'm on several Macs):
- I needed to reinstall the Design Premium Suite because of some problems with Flash operations and so I tried to repair the install through the "Add or Remove Adobe Creative Suite 3 Design Premium" app
- I got the "dreadful" error above
- I started googling and trying around all of the suggestions (the one here and the ones mentioned from Adobe too) with no luck
- I started to use the ExtendScript package on the DVD, no luck
- Then I started poking around the XML install files and I got a clue on these "requiring a disk"
- I then downloaded that DMG (yes, publicly available but not on the original DVDs...) and when my DVD was ejected asking for that "extendscript toolkit", I mounted that disk image (from whatever it was, no place in particular)
- the repairing process went on and then it asked me to reinsert the DVD, I did it and the process went to the end

I know that probably it's not the "definitive solution" (I should try it on another Mac or do some more deepest test), but it works.. and since that DMG it's just 21Mb I don't think it should be an headache to redownload it or keep it somewhere

Not sure your message makes total sense Alan but it sounds like you're suggesting people use the publicly available Extendscript toolkit 2.01 disk image in order to get around this error. It's a perfectly valid solution but if you use this solution you will most likely either have to keep the dmg in the same location or have to redownload it every time you wish to update in order to avoid an update error

I leave away every comment on the "error message", but I can probably help whoever has this kind of problem..
The hint above doesn't work for everyone just because nobody here made an analysis:
the error message "please insert..." mentioned in the subject, simply asks for a disk image not included with the original DVDs from Adobe...
To solve this problem, simply download this diskimage (for mac):
http://download.macromedia.com/pub/developer/bridge/sdk/AdobeExtendScriptToolkit2.0.1All.dmg
and when the infamous message pops up, just double click on it..
Everything will be alright..

Didn't work. Ended up having to run the maccs3clean script. That script's existence should be an embarrassment to Adobe.
