In-design crashes everytime I try to re-link an image (and from the comments above I would assume this happens on placing an image also).

I have also had crashes when placing images in illustrator and doing "file save-as" in both illustrator and photoshop.

I read something about disabling adobe version cue or what ever it is called, this helped my photoshop issues and most of the illustrator issues, but it hasn't helped in-design.

Please help.
I am on a 1.25 GHZ PowerPC G4 with Lepoard

Hello EvilVee, I made my comments because I get so angry about apple letting this happen. Serious apple users have had these problems before in the 80's and 90's and they should not be occurring now. I work in the printing industry and cannot just clean install 10.5 and CS3 and get up and running in a couple of hours! This is a major problem and I have a imac sitting here that is basically unusable for work purposes. I am not wanting to start a mac v pc war but after the ragging vista has had I was surprised to see how good it was, I own far more mac's than I do pc's so I am no big fan of microsoft but I have to admit that I like vista home premium very much compared to OS 10.5.

Your comments aren't helpful at all Glenn - sounds like you want to start a Mac 'v' PC row (yawn... I don't) And sorry, I'm not old enough to remember OS7 ;)

Anyway, a *helpful* support guy from Apple (yes, they do exist..) suggested I rename my InDesign Prefs in my Library with .old and my Saved Data in my Caches with .old as well. This stops the crashes - but only until you start customizing the prefs again. At least it's better than nothing until they sort out the bugs in the OS (or is it in CS3..? There's a blame game going on here and although I don't really care who is to blame, I do want a permanent fix please).

We have been having problems with apple like this for nearly fifteen years, remember OS7? Remember the change from Motorola to power PC? remember the first two versions of OS 10? Now we have change from power PC to Intel and we have to put up with OS 10.5 "DINGO" or is that leopard! This is Bull**it from apple and they should know better, personally I have been using Vista home premium on my laptop at home and it kicks arse compared to leopard.

I've been having major problems, like so many others it seems, with ID (CS3) on Leopard (10.5.3 on an iMac G5 PPC) crashing when I try to either 'Relink' or re-place an image. Sometimes a 'serious error' message comes up and I have to restart to get ID to even reload again. Also the 'Export' function often causes a crash. Have done the Disk Utilities and reinstalled Indesign, to no effect. I am very reluctant to go down the create new account path or dumping libraries, 'cos I'm just not tecky enough to fix it if it goes wrong.
PS and AI seem stable though. The only fix that's worked for me is to cut and paste everything from the crashing file into a new one and save it as something else, but as I use ID (legally) for college and work, this is time-consuming and frustrating. Oh, and I've already reinstalled my OS 4 times.... :( HELP!!

I have had nothing but problems with Indesign CS3... to be honest I really hate it and my hatred grows more intense everyday I use it.... If any one knows how to remedy this I would be forever grateful. I am close to going back to the good ol' CS2 version... but I have already started so many projects in CS3 that I fear Ive passed the point of no return.

Same issue. Found that if you open a new document and leave it open in the background clears up the problem for awhile. I've found no permanent solution, and sometimes have as many as 10 new docs open at once. I also have a problem with InDesign NOT staying in the background, when I select other applications they come forward breifly, but InDesign always pops back to the front.
