I tried to use FINDER to delete the SING folder--it was not there. I finally learned that Mac hides certain files and folders. By going to the Terminal Utility, I was able to rename the SING folder and the crashing of Indesign stopped.

The commands you would use in the terminal:
cd /Library/Application\ Support/Adobe
mv SING SING-RENAME

Renaming the SING folder works the same as deleting it, but you can later reverse it if you want to fix it a better way.

You can use the TAB key to facilitate entering the path in the cd command.

THANK YOU! THANK YOU! Deleting the SING folder worked like a charm. I work in a graphics college and it is up to me to make sure the software is installed and updated/working properly and this had me in pain all week. You just saved my sanity, thanks again!

Try deleting singmeta.dat at C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Adobe\SING\Datastore
If that doesn't work I should be doing a XP version of this article in the next couple of days.

Hm... I have deleted the SING folder. Reboot. Restart InDesign : it just makes a new SING folder in the application data/adobe folder... What then??

I've reinstalled all my cs3 programs. I had the same startup problem with InDesign before - but last time it helped to delete the Sing folder - but not this time...???
