Error “…’[Filename].indd’ uses one or more plug-ins which are not currently available…” When Opening an InDesign 2.0.x Document

Here is the full error:

“The document ‘[Filename].indd’ uses one or more plug-ins which are not currently available on your system. We strongly advise you not to open the document. Do you want to open anyway?”

The problem here is probably that you are opening the file with InDesign 2.0.x and the file was edited in InCopy 2.0. One solution:

  1. Download the InCopy Shared Plug-In
  2. Close InDesign
  3. Place the Plug-In folder inside the Plug-Ins folder inside the InDesign 2.0 Application Folder.
  4. Restart InDesign.
  5. Open the document again.

InCopy should have came on your InDesign 2.0 discs as well, you can do a full install of InCopy 2.0 from there, which should solve the problem as well.
