Remove Adobe ExtendScript Toolkit

A couple weeks ago we posted an article on how to Remove Adobe ExtendScript Toolkit from the Macintosh. On the Mac system improper uninstallation causes a problem with the toolkit that prevents reinstalling CS3. In an effort to give equal time to PC users we’ll briefly touch on removing it from the PC.

Remove Adobe Extendscript Toolkit on Windows:

1) Remove the program through Add/Remove Programs

2. Manually delete the following directories:

  • Documents and Settings\(User name)\Application Data\Adobe\ExtendScript Toolkit\1.0
  • Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Adobe\Updater\Certs\estoolkit.cer>
  • Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Adobe\ExtendScript Toolkit
  • Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Utilities\ExtendScript Toolkit
  • Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Launch\estoolkit

Keep in mind that the ‘Application Data’ folder is hidden by default, so you will have the enable the viewing of hidden files and folders in order to see it.

3. Remove Registry entry: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Adobe\ExtendScript Toolkit

4. Empty the recycle bin and reboot.

Note: If you have version 1.02 or 1.03 of the extendscript toolkit then there are additional registry keys you will have to delete, I recommend looking at the technical document from Adobe on this issue.

Happy InDesigning.
