Restart Your System in Selective Startup Mode
Selective Startup is great. It allows you to control which programs automatically run when starting your system and can help speed up a bogged down pc. This is all easily done through the System Configuration Utility.
1. Start>run> type in: msconfig and press ‘OK’
2. Click on the Services tab
3. See if any services don’t have a check box next to them, note these
4. Select ‘Hide all Microsoft Services’ and then click ‘disable all’. This will disable all non Microsoft services.
5. Select the Startup Tab, which is just to the right of the services tab. Note any startup items that do not have a check mark next to them.
6. Click Disable all and then “OK”
7. Click Restart. This will restart your system with only Microsoft applications loading at startup.
8. After restart press “OK”
9. Cancel out of the System Configuration Utility
You are now in selective start up. To return to your previous start up configuration just return to the system config utility, enable all startup items and services and then disable any you noted in steps 3 and 5.
